The held works cite Holland as a foundational source for evolutionary computation. Campbell (2016) cites it, with a later study, for the claim that inferential, Darwinian evolutionary computation can discover innovative models that agree with the evidence. Durant et al. (2016) describe a planarian-regeneration model-discovery method as based on evolutionary-computation techniques, attributed to Holland, though the passage cuts off mid-citation. Neither passage describes the book's own content; both use it as background authority for the method.
inferential/Darwinian evolutionary computational processes have demonstrated a strong ability to discover innovative models in agreement with the evidence
