What the held texts say about it
The held works use Wiener mainly as the source of the feedback concept. Rorot says feedback loops were initially defined by Wiener through canonical examples such as the thermostat and the watt governor, and uses this to ask what counts as control in morphological computation. Levin cites Wiener (1961) with Bernard and Cannon for homeostasis, which he treats as the base unit of cognitive goal-seeking. Other passages only mention the Wiener process, not this book.
